Still Alive!

Not a very interesting blog when I only post once in a blue moon. I keep thinking about posting...so many things to tell everyone about.

The biggest news is that I am now a parent of a teenager. As teenagers go, I think I got a pretty good one. ;0) She is sweet, quirky, and a lot of fun to be around. She left on her birthday to go to girls camp in New Mexico. She is growing up and it is wonderful and scary and heartbreaking and thrilling all rolled in to one.

She starts at the Upper School next year. (Check out her school at http://www.basistucson.org/ ... they were named 3rd best high school in the nation by Newsweek) She opted to take an advanced English course next year that will enable her to take AP English in 9th grade. I get anxious about her taking on too much but she handles it all in stride and doesn't really even seem to stress about it. Several of her friends have also signed up for the class and so she is looking forward to it.

Meanwhile she is still busy getting amazing at piano, ballroom dancing and swimming. Every year she gets better and stronger. It's been fun to see this transformation.

The highlight of her birthday was when we gave her her very own key ring with a card to get in to our clubhouse. Now that she is 13 she can check herself in for swim practice or go to the gym or kids club by herself. She was super excited and embarrassed that her mom made a huge scrapbooking deal about it when we took her in to get her picture updated for her card. Our account still had a picture of her as a 6 year old. So cute.
